So
what is this writing thing?
Writing: (noun) A group of letters or symbols written or marked on a surface
as a means of communicating. Anything expressed in letters esp. a literary
composition. The work of a writer.
*Hmm this could
cover all sorts of things. Lists, notes, stories, reminders, doodles,
diaries, articles, poetry, even calligraphy. Isn't it exciting!
Writer: (noun)
A person who writes books, articles, esp. as an occupation. A person
who is able to write or write well.
* Hmmm.
I write. The 'well' part I'm working on. :-)
Write:(verb)To
draw or mark symbols on a surface, usually paper with a pen, pencil
or other instrument. To describe or record ideas, experiences etc..
To be sufficiently familiar with a specified style, language, etc.
to use it in writing.
(In Welsh: ysgrifennu. In Italian: scrivere. In French: écrire.
Sorry, this is perhaps a useless piece of information.)
* Hmm.
So I am a writer. Despite English being my first language,
I'm still trying to become "sufficiently familiar" with it.
It's quite complex, isn't it! All those rules and regulations for grammar
and punctuation. But the fun bit is being able to play around with
words to make them sing in your own way.
Did
you know that someone who writes fables or fantasies is a Fabulist?
Fabulous!
And
what about this one:
"Cacoethes scribendi" A mania for writing and getting into print!
I
hope you like some of my bits and pieces of writing information. I'll
be adding to it so pop back occasionally and check what's new.
